I had to go to the dentist today and I am still feeling extremely a bit fragile. I have a terrible fear of dentists. I find this perfectly reasonable irrational fear very hard to deal with as I am a bit of a control freak. So I just ignore it. I pretend that dentists do not exist. I ignore my rotting teeth and I don’t smile in photos. When I finally am dragged kicking and screaming go to the dentist things have become pretty grim and unfortunately the end result is generally an extraction.
Today when I walked into the surgery and the dentist smiled at me, I just burst into tears.. (dentists do that to me, that’s why I avoid them)
The lovely female dentist patted me on the hand, handed me a tissue, glanced inside my mouth and sent me off for xrays.
Next Wednesday at 3.30 pm I am going to have 3 molars removed..
So moving right along and in accordance with my long held plan to counter my odontophobia.. Here is a total distraction.

OMG, what a cute photo! As for dentists, I used to be completely phobic, but these days not so bad, I have a great dental practice who don’t just push ahead with what they’re doing, but wait until the patient is calm enough. Regaining that control has been enough for me to go regularly. Ihope you find a similar solution, big hugs BG x x x

My teeth are rotting out too. I’m actually not afraid of dentists, although I have good reason to be as one dentist actually caused me to lose a tooth. But they’re just too freaking expensive. I’d like to just have all my teeth removed, get dentures and be done with it.

My mom told me that when I was little, I would drag her to the other side of the street if I saw the dentist. Guess I was phobic before I even had work done. When I was 18, he sort of extracted a molar when he was drunk (!) and had dirty hands, but I was in so much pain I didn’t care. I was spitting out bone splinters for months. Now I only go when I must, but I take anti-anxiety meds before.

The only thing I hate about the dentist is the bill. If I could afford it I’d go every week until every tooth in my mouth was re-built. As it is I save for a few weeks, then get a filling, save a few more weeks, get another filling, and so on and so forth, etcetera, ad infinitum.

I’m terrified of the dentist. Ever since I was in the middle of a root canal when the anasthetic ran out – ouch. Lovley pic of veronica! what was he playing that made her stand up so well? I hate dentist too! I am an anti-dentite…or something. Although, my dentist is all things lovely, I can’t help but have a panic attack every time I see her. She went so far as to prescribe me pills, so that I would be calm for her. I love your picture…it’s reminds me of my dad.
