That mirror shot is great, although the truck looks really really close.

I thought the wings looked backwards on the photo of the cicada on Veronica’s blog. I think, looking at your photo, that it’s just that the wings attach very low on the body. Cicadas are not my favorite things, aren’t they the ones that are so noisy?

On the other hand, they make me think of hot summer nights, which is wonderful…currently my toes are freezing. The computer is much too close to the back door, which needs more weather stripping!

The truck WAS really close. But not in a scary way, we were waiting for some roadworks to be done…

  • Jientje January 11, 2009, 6:43 pm

Seeing the picture of that insect reminds me of the question you asked. Yes, my husband does sometimes point out things for me to photograph, if we are together on a photo walk. It always amazes me how much he sees, he’s got a great eye! Your macro is amazing Kim! And you’ve got jackdaws too!!!

I really like the spider shot… the way the light hits the web makes it look like spun silver. Nicely done.

Those trees look like they could be snapped with bare hands.

The crow(?) is quite evil looking.

Great photos! Is that what a cicada looks like – we had one in one of our trees – irritating noise which goes on forever – they’re usually found in the open bush/veld.
My fav is the first one

The spider just made me itch all over!! Too bad I was raised by a complete arachnophobe, otherwise I might see the beauty in the little critters.

The one of V, has it been run through a filter of some sort? It looks very “impressionistic”, but who am I?

Have you been practicing with V’s camera, so you can catch the moments while she’s giving birth?

    Love them all.
