I took Sharon’s advice and I went for a long walk today. David came with me and I think the walk did us both a lot of good. I took a gazillion photos (yay) and here are someĀ  that I like.

I like the prickly one that’s “not as prickly as it looks”.

Amazing pictures! What a beautiful part of Australia to live in. More long walks – and pictures of course – please ;-)

Gorgeous and so beautiful and hopeful.
The grief never goes away – it just softens and becomes less immediate and a little more tenuous

Thinking of you

What kind of plant is that prickly silhouette in picture 4? I like pictures 5 and 6 best. The last picture didn’t load for me, it will probably load later or tomorrow.

I love the textures of the tree barks, especially the second to last photo. And the water, of course. I lived in the desert too long to not love love love photos of water…that stream looks like it could be a great place to goof off on a hot day. Unfortunately many of the streams around here are glacier-fed, which means that even on the hottest days, they are too cold to play in.

Today we visited an old gold mine, with collapsed buildings and a waterfall, lots of cool textures to photograph with all the weathered boards and rusted machinery and wildflowers growing around the ruins. I saw two badgers, too, but didn’t get to photograph them. The little bastards were too quick. But I did get some photos of ground squirrels or gophers, these cute little rodents anyway.

Weekly winners, each of them. I’m glad you got out with your camera.

I have found photography a wonderful way of extricating myself from grief, and finding beauty and joy. I love the first photo. I see the face of a sea horse kind of creature, delicately sculptured in the bark of that tree.

You have a great eye. They are all lovely shots.
