Sunday Selections # 13

I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that  otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.

I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think  that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.

So I  have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.

Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.

Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Link back here to me.

Easy Peasy.

VERY nice, Kim. You seem to be able to photograph in many different “styles.”

    • kim (frog ponds rock) April 3, 2011, 1:48 pm

Thanks, I just photograph the things I like, then I fiddle with the photos a bit until they please my eye.

  • Sam @ Learn. Create. Do. April 3, 2011, 10:26 am

love all of these B&W shots! Both the perspective taken from under the bridge and the photo of the cross.
(sorry my link doesn’t have a linky attached….forgot to remove it when it auto-populated the name field.)

    • frogpondsrock April 3, 2011, 1:51 pm

Thanks Sam, I took the photo of the cross as part of a research project I am doing for my drawing class. I love the underneath of bridges all those lovely lines and textures, angles and shadows make me happy.

  • river April 3, 2011, 10:28 am

    These are amazing. AMAZING!!

  • Achelois April 3, 2011, 11:44 am

    You are talented.

    • frogpondsrock April 3, 2011, 1:54 pm

I am also very absentminded lol The bridge photos have been in a folder for ages and if it wasn’t for this meme of mine I doubt they would have seen the light of day.

  • gaby@727m2 April 3, 2011, 1:00 pm

Oh… nice surprise! Your blog has had a face lift, it’s nice (not that there was anything wrong with the old one), it’s good to have a change now and then 🙂 Love the black & white images and the subject matter.

  • Kath Lockett April 3, 2011, 2:18 pm

Hi Kim – River sent me over here ’cause I want to do Sunday Selections too. Your bridge photos are works of art!

    • Kim (frogpondsrock) April 3, 2011, 5:48 pm

Thanks Kath 🙂 I am glad you have joined in, the more the merrier.

  • Dorothy April 3, 2011, 3:21 pm

I love photographing architecture and symmetry. I’m sure I have some of those somewhere on my hard drive….!

Today, I’ve found some hats for you!

  • Shae April 3, 2011, 4:30 pm

    You take such lovely photos.
My girls were just making a “frog pond” in the back yard and I was thinking of you!

    • Kim (frogpondsrock) April 3, 2011, 5:50 pm

Thanks Shae,I am pleased you thought of me 🙂 Every backyard should have a frog pond. I have some links up on my frog page on how to build simple frog ponds and I mean super simple.

  • Jientje April 3, 2011, 5:44 pm

Looks great in Black and White Kim!

  • sharon April 3, 2011, 6:03 pm

Very ‘weighty’ pictures this week Kim. Technically interesting but I like your ‘natural’ photos best 😉

Love the redecorated blog. I’ll have a long black if the coffee machine is still on lol!

    • frogpondsrock April 3, 2011, 6:07 pm

I will try to have some butterflies for you soon Sharon 😉 hehe Veronica did a good job didn’t she. We had to redo the whole blog because I wanted to be able to reply to comments here as well as via email.

  • Watershedd April 3, 2011, 6:56 pm

Oh, I love black and white photography. The image taken looking down the pylons is so symmetrical and the light is lovely through the arches. I love it.

The blog looks great. The close up of the ceramic in the header looks like foam on the sand.

    • frogpondsrock April 3, 2011, 7:29 pm

I love black and white photography as well. That ceramic platter is one of my favourites, it has been in the shop for a while now so I think it is time to bring it home.

  • sleepydwarf April 3, 2011, 8:49 pm

    I made it!!
I cheated a bit and used some of my photos from today’s autumn festival …. hope you like them 🙂
Love the bridge photos. I have some like that – in B&W too, maybe I’ll post them next time.
    xx

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 7:54 am

There is no such thing as cheating in this meme 🙂 Any photos that you choose to use are fine.

  • Ali April 3, 2011, 9:08 pm

Love the new blog look. I wish I were in any way good at photography. What I see in my minds eye and what I manage to capture are veeeeeeeery different things. No matter what the subject matter I always end up with pics that look like a squashed potato.
    xx

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:04 am

Oh Ali, I have seen your photos and there weren’t any squashed potatoes at all.

  • kebeni April 3, 2011, 9:43 pm

I just love the bridge shots, awesome!

  • del April 3, 2011, 10:06 pm

I love the bridge shots. In the second bridge shot, where you don’t see the water, it is easy to imagine you are strolling through a majestic old building!

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:05 am

The arches give the feel of a Cathedral don’t they.

  • del April 3, 2011, 10:08 pm

OOPS – somehow I managed to enter your linky thing twice. Sorry!

  • Marie April 3, 2011, 10:52 pm

I love the bridge shots and it inspired me to post a bridge shot of my own. Thank you so much for hosting this and I hope to become a regular participant.

  • Beet April 4, 2011, 12:41 am

fricken’ awesome shots Kim! Particularly that last one!!

    (love the new look too)

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:07 am

Thanks Bettina, Veronica did a good job on the redesign, I am really happy with it.

  • carolina April 4, 2011, 2:59 am

    Hi Kim,
nice shots, especially love the second and third one. I’m a sucker for symmetry and light/shade contrasts 😉 Luvly.

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:09 am

I was told by a friend when he saw some of my images, that I really liked lines. I was quick to respond with “No I Don’t, I like shadows” and then I looked at my images again and had to admit that I really like lines 🙂 I enjoyed these photos very much. I like how they make me feel.

  • carolina April 4, 2011, 2:59 am

Oh, and I love your new layout and header photo.

  • Francesca April 4, 2011, 7:21 am

I love thee architectural shots this week, sorry for joining late!

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:10 am

No worries Francesca, time is never an issue with me.

  • Jay from The Depp Effect April 4, 2011, 8:45 am

Oooh, those are quite surreal! I do love the third one. And monochrome really does seem to suit the subject!

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 10:12 am

Thanks Jay I am still experimenting but I do like these photos.

  • Cherie April 4, 2011, 10:29 am

Your plastics post caused me to dedicate yesterday to a follow your horror for the day! Loving your new look blog. Your photo’s are mysteriously glorious. I’m on the tree trail again. Have a wonderful week. xo.

    • frogpondsrock April 4, 2011, 3:04 pm
