Sunday Selections #44

The Blurb

I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.

I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.

So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.

Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.

Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Link back here to me.

Easy Peasy.

The Photos

I adore ladybirds, I remember being fascinated by these little insects as a small child and the fascination has not waned. I have hundreds of ladybird photos saved in various folders in my computer and I still go out to the honeysuckle and snap away for ages.

These photos all have something about them that appeal to me. They are not technically correct photos, my images never are, but I think these photos all have soul.

Ladybird porn is my favourite start to a Sunday ;D

We don’t seem to have any Ladybirds outside at the moment, but we have been looking. Perhaps we have nothing that they like out there yet. Miss 5 was loving playing with the Slater beetles and worms yesterday as we did a spot of weeding, she’s even stopped screaming when she sees a spider. Earwigs, however, completely different story!

The honeysuckle on my back verandah is covered in aphids, there are zillions of ladybirds there feasting and procreating.

I don’t like earwigs either, it harks back to those horror stories we were told as children about earwigs crawling into your brain via your ear. *shudder* nasty things. Give me a thumping great black spider anyday.

Love the ladybird pictures, I wish they were on my roses – which are very sick from all the aphids but for some reason no ladybirds.

  • Elephant's Child November 6, 2011, 9:19 am

Love. love. love them. I read somewhere that you can buy ladybirds to deal with aphid problems. I think it was designed as a service for commercial florists but I may just look into it. You can never have too many ladybirds.

I wish we had as many so I could go photograph them! Adore the last one particularly. 😀

I love ladybirds, but like Marita, my roses always had a gazillion aphids, but no ladybirds.
I think I’ll look into buying some like Elephant’s Child says.
The garden where I am now has many old neglected roses, a few hundred ladybirds would be a great idea.

Ahhh Ladybird Porn. I needed that chuckle today. 🙂

LOL, I remember you mentioned your love for ladybirds and that you had ladybird porn photos too, when I posted my ladybirds ‘doing it’ shots. D’you think there is something seriously wrong with us? Nah, I didn’t think so either 😉

Earwigs… eeew! Poor earwigs. You know, if only they just had the decency to have sex in front of our camera’s… I could perhaps change my mind about them;-)

    My ‘moving’ post is up!

Poor old Ladybirds have been under the pump this Spring with the huge population explosion in Aphids, hope that lot were able to get it on and spawn another generation of little furry critters to gobble the buggers all up!

    oh I love your photos.
I used to adore Ladybirds so much when I was a little kid but not now. Might because I rarely see it anymore.
