Sunday Selections #72

Good Morning internet.

It is time for Sunday selections again. I have decided to throw the rule book away as I cant be bothered copy/pasting the text anymore.

In April I came home with three glorious bunches of tulips that made me smile everytime I looked at them. I made The Spouse promise not to throw the tulips out as I wanted to photograph them as they were dying. The neat freaks amongst you will understand how difficult this was for my husband as dying flowers are very messy.

These photos make my heart sing as much as the live tulips ever did.

I’d be struggling with leaving dying flowers in the house for a different reason…fear of negative energy! I always was a little quirky…;)

I did a Feng Shui course once (I was bored, shuddup) and that is the one of the only things I remember.

No dead flowers and no pointy leaves.

hehe I never worry about stuff like that. I think of dying bulbs like tulips or daffodils as being full of positive energy as all the energy of the dead flowers goes into the bulbs for next year. AND I have had bunches of dead flowers in the house for the past 5 years. Maybe the cobwebs balance out the energy?

That’s a cool way of looking at it. Yeah, all of that life inside something that looks like it should be thrown away – I like that thought 🙂

Also the one about the cobwebs 😛

That must be it… my Mum was into that stuff… 🙂

This brings back memories! I used to ow a florist shop. 🙂

    • frogpondsrock June 3, 2012, 6:55 pm

My friend that gave me the tulips is an ex-florist.

These are SO lovely! Graceful and ethereal and kind of sad, which is appropriate. I really love them. xx

    • frogpondsrock June 3, 2012, 9:22 pm

Thank you Fe, thank you. I am pleased what I was trying to convey came through.

  • Amanda June 3, 2012, 9:58 pm

    These are awesome Kim

  • Geoff June 3, 2012, 11:10 pm

That first one’s excellent. Dark and moody and all 🙂

    • frogpondsrock June 4, 2012, 4:10 pm

Thanks Geoff, the first one is my favourite “in focus” shot. The rest also make my soul sing but need to be large in order to be properly admired I think.

  • Dorothy @ Singular Insanity June 3, 2012, 11:18 pm

Love these, Kim. Painting with camera….

    • frogpondsrock June 4, 2012, 4:11 pm

Yes, Dorothy, you have caught what I am doing. thank you for getting it. 🙂

Hi Kim, I love the first and last ones, and the bluish one is cool, but my old eyes keep trying to bring the others into focus! They are all very dreamy, like our foggy, rainy weather on the Cape today.

    • frogpondsrock June 4, 2012, 4:11 pm

hehe Thanks Janet, sometimes blurry photos on the internet make my head ache.

That last shot looks like an old masters painting. I really like the soft, subdued colours. Laughing about the fung shui stuff. Someone once bought me a book called 168 Fung Shui ways to Declutter Your House. It’s actually quite sensible in some parts. The bit that does crack me up is that apparently you must clap loudly in each corner of a room as you’re cleaning it, to put the chi back into circulation. Who knew?

    • frogpondsrock June 4, 2012, 4:12 pm

heh I had heard that about the clapping as well . 🙂

  • Jayne June 4, 2012, 1:47 pm

I have no trouble having dead flowers in the house cos I always forget them in the vase and then find them covered in cobwebs, wrinkled, dried up.
    Must take photos next time!
