22 days of Puppy

Monty the Labrador/Kelpie X has been with us for 22 days now and I had forgotten how demanding a puppy can be. Not as demanding as a toddler thank <insert deity of choice> but pretty demanding all the same.

Now that Harry, my older dog, has worked out that Monty is actually a dog rather than a tasty potential snack, albeit a small noisy, nippy, annoying dog, they have become doggy friends.

This week I started introducing Monty to his collar and a lead.

It is going as well as can be expected.

I am so pleased we decided to add a puppy to our family as he is rather cute, Monty will be eight weeks old tomorrow and he still has that delightful puppy smell. BUT best of all he is now sleeping THROUGH THE NIGHT (mostly)

Yay.

My children and husband empathise with you EC as they are all insomniacs because of the EDS ( if they sleep too deeply they have multiple dislocations) So they have a lot of trouble falling asleep and then sleep super lightly. I started working on the bread run with my Dad when I was 12 and we started at 3 am, and then I started working the late late night shift as a waitress at 15 and worked nights until I was 22, So I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime.

The photos are adorable, just like Monty. I’m glad Harry has accepted him as a friend.
I have a leash for Angel but haven’t tried clipping it to his collar yet. He plays with it instead, but he won’t be allowed outside without it.
Angel doesn’t yet sleep though the night, I’m too soft hearted I think. He wakes me at 3.30 or 4am and won’t leave me alone until I give him breakfast. I’d like to make him wait until at least 5am (and 6 or 7 would be great), but there’s only so much nose licking a woman can take.
