We have some very special visitors staying with us at the moment. The flat Stanleys have arrived all the way from Missouri in the USA..
The Flat Stanleys have been very busy learning about Australian animals and are really enjoying their Tasmanian holiday.
We visited a wildlife park near our home and showed The Stanleys some wallabies, the wallabies were very interested in The Stanleys as well.
One wallaby was possibly a little too interested in The Stanleys.. and had a bit of a nibble,Ooops!
Phew! The Stanleys needed a rest in Amy’s Pram after their close encounter, luckily there was no harm done.
We looked at different road signs. This sign is to warn motorists to slow down because wombats like to cross the road here..
We saw a wombat sleeping in a hollow log at the wildlife park as well..
If you would like to read more about the flat Stanley’s, Tasmanian holiday you can visit Mrs C at homeschooling etc…
Cheers kim..

tell me, why are they called the ‘flat’ Stanleys?
ROFL!!! Looks like you’re showing them a great time! Love the photo of them buckled in and with the street sign 😉
Just this past weekend, my mom was telling how her nephew’s little boy (2nd grade) is doing something similar- “flat Paige”. His flat Paige went to Germany for a visit. This is so amazing, you are awesome to take Flat Stanley to see the animals! And taking us along, too!
looks like the flat stanley’s enjoyed there day.. 🙂
Taz
Flat Stanley is a book by Jeff Brown. In it, a little boy named Stanley has a bulletin board fall on his head, so he’s flat. He went on vacation in California in the mail. SO now little kids like to make their own “flat Stanleys” and send them round the world. We get to see the Stanleys do things we can’t for lack of money, etc.
It’s a lot of fun. I’ve also had Stanleys visit Victoria (Australia), London, Florida, and Oklahoma City.
THANK YOU, KIM!!!
I’m jealous. I’m thinking I’d like to send you a ‘fat Louie’ and you can take him around and show him stuff, and take pictures of him and feed him, too. Because I hear you’re a really good cook and ‘fat Louie’ likes him some good chow.
Wow, those flat stanleys look like they are having a wow of a time!
Oh and I went to the post office yesterday, Kim and found a surprise parcel…you naughty, amazing, wonderful person!
Thank you. I will get the kids right on it and write up a post soon. Really, you made my day.
Xbox.. Mrs C has explained that beautifully umm just look up a couple of comments.
Thanks Sandy hopefully we are off to thr rainforest this weekend..
I seem to remember the local primary school doing something similar a few years ago as well Hyphen Mama.
So did we Taz… but it was a bit nervewracking when one of the wallabies had bit of a nibble on the stanleys head..ooops..
Thanks for the great explanation Mrc C.
Well Lou, if you can squeeze yourself into an envelope and then post yourself to Tasmania I will gladly feed you and show you the sights..mmm we could tour the local brewery maybe????
I am pleased Tiff.. Making your day was definately part of my plan..
cheers Kim xxx
Fat Louie!! I’m laughing my head off!
I love Flat Stanley so much!
Fat Louie. *sniggers*
You’re really showing the Flat Stanleys a great time.
Is it true that wombats can stuff the underside of your car if you hit them?
Not many people can say they’ve been nibbled upon by a wallaby! lol
Fat louie indeed *snickers*
We are having heaps of fun with the flat stanleys Rebecca..If we cant get to the rainforest we are going to the beach on the weekend..
Oh yes indeedy Anja, and the front of your car as well. Hitting a wombat is like crashing into a brick wall..
Not many people at all Bettina.. It is normally the other way around..yummy yummy wallaby..
cheers kim
Your Flat Stanleys certainly look happy to be here.Did you treat them to billy tea and damper as well?
Does wallaby taste the same as kangaroo? I quite like a bit of BBQ’d kangaroo.
I had forgotten about Billy tea and Damper.. thanks heaps River.. I will put that on my to do list.
Wallaby is very similar probably not as ‘gamey’ as kangarooo..But still very good tucker..
Ok, I’m intrigued. Off to find out more…
Ha I love it, looks like the Flat Stanleys are having a great time here in Tassie. Maybe I could make a Flat Tony & send my self to visit the ancestors homeland in Ireland.
Cheers from Launceston
Tony 🙂
It was cool to hear from you, Kim! Yeah, I’m really interested in these flat Stanleys. They have been talked about a lot over here (in general, not those specifically). You’re right. I do need to get in on this action! I look forward to checking out the blog you mentioned!
I don’t get it….but it’s still cute
