A post where I abuse a troll, vent my spleen and swear a lot.

Tired, I am tired today. Tired of worrying about my daughter. Tired of trying to keep my shit together. Tired of being strong. Tired of being nice. But mostly I am tired of cowardly fuckwits like anyonetoblog.

Anyonetoblog says:

Hmmm am amazed that you cant write 40 words yet you can type till the cows come home…. is this just writing for profit or just a sympathy blog………..god only knows

For fucks sake arsehole, if you actually read the post it is glaringly obvious that Veronica isn’t after sympathy. But of course self centred dickheads like you only see what they want to see. Leaving a nasty, anonymous comment is a cowardly, low act and tells me all I need to know about what sort of person you really are.

Achelois, a lovely English blogger has written about trolls in her latest post The Internet Bully & A Request her post is well worth reading.

I hadn’t really thought about trolls being bullies. I had just thought that they were a shadowy sub-species, sort of a cross between Gollum and Dr Phil. Full of useless advice and observations delivered in a slithery tone of voice.

“Oh yessss my precioussss you is not broken. You issssss pretending. You neeedsssss to get a real job and sssstop writing on the internetsssss.”

I have written a formal comment policy for my blog. It is up there at the top of the page. So in keeping with my current policy I will now edit anyonetoblog’s comment to amuse myself. Even though the comment wasn’t left on my blog, they harassed my child and as such only deserve my contempt. Veronica’s father’s feelings are quite unprintable.

Hmmm I am amazed by you.  you cant write 40 words without falling apart, dont worry writing is overrated as evidenced by my own pathetic attempt.  you can type away till the cows come home I adore you.….you should be writing for profit have you considered a career in journalism. just a sympathetic word or two from you will be enough to make me happy……..god only knows i couldn’t manage like you do.

There now, that is a much nicer comment.

Now on to some happier stuff. My friend Robin took some photos of my work and I have added a ceramic gallery to my blog as well. The photos are all thumbnails and you can click on them to make them a bit larger. The images are only a small selection of my work and I will be adding to the gallery as I find the time to photograph any new work.

You might remember that I was having an exhibition at the Lady Franklin Gallery in October. Unfortunately I had to cancel that in June because I just didn’t have the energy to think about an exhibition at that point in time. I have been invited to take part in a group exhibiton tentatively planned for November.Yay. So I have enough work lined up to keep me busy for months.

Remember the platters that I was working on last month? I have fired two of them and I am pleased with the results. They are gutsy pieces with a raw energy that make me feel a tiny bit hopeful.

The crawling was a lovely surprise.

These handbuilt platters allow me the freedom to just chuck some clay around and have some fun as well as giving me a large surface area to experiment with a range of different glazes. If you want to know what any of the glazes are, or how I got that interesting crawling  just ask me in the comment section and I will share the recipes.

I will finish up with a piece I made for my Mother. Mum loved this little vase and it will now be my inspiration for a series of  its own.

Vase I made for Mum. this piece will be the inspiration for a series.

Oh mah holy hell, that piece at the end, the one for MyNanny is beautiful. Absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful.

  • lceel August 22, 2009, 12:40 pm

I, too, just LOVE that vase. It is beautiful.

  • Mrs. C August 22, 2009, 12:41 pm

You don’t like the blog? You can go read somewhere else. How tough is that?

Hey! Do you have sitemeter? Sometimes, if you know WHEN a comment is made, you can go into sitemeter and figure out who was on your blog at the time. Then you can “copy” the location, paste into google maps and ta-da! You get a lovely pic of where these people are from.

But be warned. One guy who came to my blog looking for “sexy smelly toes” went and looked at the post I made about my two-year-old’s smelly feet and stayed for 42 seconds.

Um, what could have interested him with a search like “sexy smelly toes” for 42 seconds? With a two-year-old?? So you learn things you wish you didn’t know. 😛

Do you want to learn who your troll is? I’m ready.

Troll abuse, spleen venting (in moderation- no sense wearing down your spleen after all) and swearing lots all seem like very logical things. It does not cease to amaze me the amount of people in this world who have no compassion or empathy. The crazy thing is that I have compassion for them. Sigh. Though it doesn’t prevent the odd angry moment here and there. Besides, Mums just have to get protective, its what we do!
I LOVE the pottery, it is beautiful and amazing. Hang on to the hopeful, it will grow from tiny to enormous, just you wait and see!
    hugs, Liz

    Asshole is an understatement. Yuck!

I LOVE your work Kim, it’s beautiful! I’m so behind, I’m off to read your other pages now!

  • Megan August 22, 2009, 4:26 pm

Your work is amazing. Love it!

  • Xbox4NappyRash August 22, 2009, 6:47 pm

    Your work is remarkable.

    Talent gets me all gooey.

  • river August 22, 2009, 6:51 pm

I agree with Ree and lceel, mynannys vase is stunningly beautiful. Are you going to put it in the exhibition? (You’ll have to label it not for sale.)
I love your edited version of that snarky comment.

  • Hyphen Mama August 22, 2009, 11:57 pm

Trolls suck. They sit in their underground hiding hole, type-typing away hateful things to people they don’t know, about things they have no idea about, because they have the social skills of a stick. If they were worth one dribble of spit, they’d be out living their life…getting some sun… you know… like HUMANS do.

I love the faerie plate. I was giddy when I put my cursor over it and saw that was actually the name you’d given it!! The vase is GORGEOUS! Absolutely gorgeous. You could create a whole line called The MyNanny collection!

  • Barbara August 23, 2009, 5:16 am

You made XBox gooey – I’m not sure how I feel about that!

Those plates stun me into silence. They’re beautiful and gutsy and filled with raw energy – they should make you feel more than a bit hopeful. I’m glad you’re going to use that vase as inspiration – it’s worthy of such.

Finally, I hope the troll got beaten by one of the 3 billy goats gruff.

  • plumtree August 23, 2009, 9:16 am

I am, once again, awed by your work. Maybe I can get down to Tas and see your exhibition in person.
Trolls–ugh! It’s your blog, why can’t you write what you like? I loved your edited version, maybe you could market that skill too!

  • Joyce-Anne August 23, 2009, 12:51 pm

That vase is gorgeous! Truly shows your love for your mum.

When will trolls learn to stop reading what they don’t like? It’s your blog, write what you want and when you want.

  • Sharon August 23, 2009, 11:48 pm

Trolls? Stuff ’em and serve with panache! Why do these creatures bother to read a blog they neither like nor understand, and then make spiteful comments. I was brought up on the saying ‘if you can’t be civil, be silent’, what’s so hard about that? I do hope Veronica has treated him or her with the contempt they deserve.

Your new works are breath-taking and the vase is exquisite, definitely worthy of a whole series.

  • Jayne August 24, 2009, 8:43 pm

Love your work, it rocks, and that vase…!
    Beautiful 🙂
As for the dropkick troll…tell it to pucker up to your Royal Irish arse 😉

  • Tanya August 25, 2009, 10:07 am

thumbs up to the edited comment (what an arse!)

thumbs up to the Gollum-esque retort

thumbs up to the beautiful platters and vase 🙂

  • Dughallmor Beagles August 26, 2009, 7:30 am

Hey Kim! Long time no yap 😀
Good on ya for venting about the troll….no-one gets to pick on your kids, no matter if they have kids of their own! And trolls usually get what they deserve…in the end!
Your ceramics are so beautiful, I wish I had half your talent.
With my pc issues behind me I am only now getting caught up with everyone. Over the last couple of months I have missed visiting folk so much and thought about you in particular so often. I’ve just scrolled down to see what you’ve been up to and I am so sorry to read about your Mum, very sorry indeed. Don’t know what else to say except how guilty I feel that I didn’t come by sooner, though my words would have been the same.
Sending you and all your family a massive hug
    Nicky & co xxxx

I am stunned by your art. I love the vase. It’s totally gorgeous.

As for the troll, I have spent quite a lot of time on political blogs, so I am used to those asshats who think its their place to tell us lesser mortals where and why we are so completely wrong and pathetic. Mostly I find that those people have very much wrong in their own lives and seem to feel the need to share the misery. Assholes.

I have a new computer and I am working on getting my photos organized…and the photoshop program I have been lusting after — Adobe’s Creative Suites — is on sale, so I am hoping to get back to posting photos soon!

  • Tinkingbell August 26, 2009, 10:07 am

Beautiful glazes – love those platters

And your mum’s vase has a beautiful contained stillness – lovely

trolls? Fuck ’em I say – ignore the little bastards and they might wither and die. Serve ’em right.
