Tell me something about yourselves.

Yesterday was De-Lurker Day.ย  The day that bloggers like me ask the burning questions. Who are you? How did you find me? What is it that keeps you here? Where is my chocolate? Well maybe not where is my chocolate because I know that it should be in the fridge. David knows better than to eat my chocolate without nearly nagging me to death for it first.

I am intensely interested, some might even say a tad obsessed with you, my dear readers. I had someone from Queensland read here for a couple of hours with 59 page views. On the one hand it is rather nice to know that my babbling kept someone interested for that long but on the other hand it is also a bit spooky because they came via a relatives facebook page. What were they looking for?

Lots of my family read my blog and never ever comment which is also kind of weird? Why dont you ever comment?

Some of the google searches are interesting as well, I especially like the “frog on ceramic rock” searches that then stay for three or four page views. They make me happy.

I get lots of people looking for accidental UFO’s and photographs of Zombies. Then there are the slightly disturbing searches looking for sexy grandmothers and fun with pigs in the mud.

*updated someone just arrived here lookingย  for ‘peanut zombie pics’ hmmm.

Which brings me back to you, how did you find me? What was the first blog that you read? What are your favourite blogs? What do you enjoy about blogs, bloggers and blogging?

Come out and say hello or send me an email if you are too shy. frogpondsrock(AT)gmail(DOT)com

Cheers Kim

Oh but I do comment! Look, see, commenting!

    Wait, I don’t count do I.

  • tiff January 15, 2010, 1:45 pm

Is it delurking if you haven’t commented for a bit? I think it may be.

  • Brenda January 15, 2010, 1:54 pm

BOO! Bet you didn’t see that one coming hah?!

Ummm…first blogs. Of course our ever feisty Veronica. I’m pretty sure she was my very first commenter. Mia Freedman. Then I think Tiff. What do I look for in a blog? Not really sure, but usually because I feel I can relate to the writer. And it has to make me laugh out loud. Has to. What else? Ooh pretty pictures.

Let’s see, I found you through Veronica’s blog. I can’t remember where I found V but we seem to be in an almost first generation of Aussie bloggers. The first blog I read was Playgroups are no place for children and I found Misc Mum soon after that.

I don’t really have a favourite blogger at the moment. I just love the community that I’ve found.

What keeps me coming back to you?

I see you as a friend and i need to check on you, also you are funny, honest and sassy.

    PS where’s the chocolate?

I found you through Veronica. I enjoy seeing pics of your lovely country. And I like reading and commenting about problems that we share.

Thank you for sharing with us ๐Ÿ™‚

I also found you through Veronica. Not sure exactly how I found her though. I remember the very first blog I ever read was blurb from the burbs. After a while I discovered that by clicking on the names of commenters I’d discover new blogs to read, things just got better from there. That has to be how I eventually stumbled on Veronica and so to you, and boy am I glad I did.

Found you through my daughter Jeanette. She said I should start a blog .. which then took me about a year to act on it. She put you on my list – so I had no choice!!! I had no clue how to do anything about blogging. So naturally she was my first blogger ‘friend’.
One of our very good friends (Australian) said that Tasmanians are “very strange people” ! You are proving him wrong!

  • Elaine January 15, 2010, 4:53 pm

I can’t remember how I found you but it was probably through clicking on blogs in my friends’ blogrolls. I have so many favourites but the one I visit daily is Pioneer Woman. I love her humour, her cooking, her photography, her family, her life. I think it is incredible how she has developed her site and has achieved the lable of ‘famous’. That takes some dedication.
I probably comment on about 10% of the blogs I read, through fear of having nothing witty or interesting to say!

  • Sharon January 15, 2010, 7:39 pm

I found you via Veronica’s blog. Can’t remember now how I found Veronica though. Probably through clicking on commenters to other blogs I read. That’s how I’ve found most if not all of ‘my’ blogs. Some I read for a while and then drop, others feel like an extension of family and you and Vonnie are in that category. Like it or not I’m afraid you’ve got me for good now lol!

I do want to put it on record that I have no idea where your chocolate is though, ‘family’ or not!

  • Marylin January 15, 2010, 9:16 pm

I found you through Veronica, of course! hehe ๐Ÿ™‚
The frist ever blog I read? A world of warcraft one *cough* Yes, really!
Why do I love blogging? Cause of all the wonderful people I’ve met! How else would I meet my crazy long lost aunty that I never knew I had eh? EH?

    I don’t know where your chocolate is… really… ahem… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Watershedd January 15, 2010, 9:21 pm

A convoluted path starting at dancingwithfrogs.com brought me to you, when I stumbled onto the “Nanny state” ISP management proposed by the bill currently in Federal Parliament.

I’m limited on time … I tend to flit by a blog. If the posts are pithy and I relate to them, I’ll generally read. My favourite blog in the aforementioned Froggie’s, but I must say I enjoy yours too! The first blog I read is long since gone. My own bear a humble beginning and very mixed content.

  • Ali January 15, 2010, 11:16 pm

I don’t really need to delurk. You know I think you’re fantastic and I came across your blog via Veronica. First blog ever was someone I knew from a homebirth forum, then I went looking for Australian blogs and found Veronica’s. The sense of community and support that I’ve gained through blogging makes me so glad that I started doing it.
    xx

  • Renee January 16, 2010, 12:01 am

Veronica sent me! I have no idea why but I liked what I saw and I’ve been here since.. :o)

  • Kristin January 16, 2010, 12:46 am

I found you through blogcatalog, didn’t I? You were the one who wasn’t a virus. The first post I read was on losing your mom to cancer and I could relate to that. Found V through you. One of these days I’m going to return to Oz and when I do I’ll be sure to include Taz on my itinerary so I can come meet you 2 in person. So there’s a threat!

  • Tanya January 16, 2010, 1:04 am

You know who I am. Found you through Veronica!

  • Megan January 16, 2010, 5:42 am

I found you through Veronica’s blog, she was the first blog I read.

  • jebaru January 16, 2010, 6:53 pm

I found you through looking for blogs by Tasmanians or about Tasmania – where I’ve just been. Again! Back in SA now, with my two Tas calendars to comfort me. One at home and one in the office.

  • plumtree January 17, 2010, 8:17 am

Well, it looks like I am one of the few who did not go to Veronica’s blog first ๐Ÿ™‚
I knew that Tiff checked on you frequently and that’s what drew me. I read only about 5 blogs. I like the way you scrutinise your journey; I love the ceramics and the photos too.

  • plumtree January 17, 2010, 8:21 am

Also, don’t forget that that couple of hours spent on your blog might be, oh, at the house of a busy mum who left the page open and whose preschooler clicked though any number of views. Not meaning to burst your bubble, of course, LOL! Just that so often, things have very prosaic explanations.

  • jen January 17, 2010, 9:58 am

    jen here. greetings from oklahoma.

  • Fleur January 17, 2010, 12:39 pm

I found you through Rachael Treasure’s site, Kim. I’d seen that you’d left a few comments and as a published, country author, myself, I was curious to what sort of readers Rachael had. I was capivated by your life and often pop back to see what you’ve been up to. I love your photos! If you’re interested in me, my website is http://www.fleurmcdonald.com ! I hope your 2010 is very healthy. Best wishes, Fleur

  • Fleur January 17, 2010, 4:08 pm

Sorry, Kim, I put my wrong email address! It should be right now. Thanks for your comment on my site – I hope you visit when you’ve time.

  • Jientje January 18, 2010, 6:11 am

Apart from “my little sister”, whose comments you might have seen, none of my relatives comment on my blog, not even my own daughter. At least, yours does?

  • Achelois January 18, 2010, 11:29 am

Late to comment. I think I found you via Veronica. Is it awful to admit I can’t remember. You know loads about me from my blog and from emails my real name!

  • Joyce-Anne January 18, 2010, 2:29 pm

I don’t always get a chance to comment and I found you through Veronica. I love your artist’s eye. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I saw you mentioned here

I stayed and read because I love your pictures and your writing style. You represent the other side of the world to me!

I just found you today when looking through the Bloggie awards finalists, 2010, which were mentioned in the Wellfleet Chez Sven blog. I liked what I saw, so you’re in my ‘favorites’ now. I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I like your art, pictures, ecological topics, the whole thing. I didn’t know what a blog was until I read the Caleb Potter blog in 2007, when a young, local shellfisherman by that name was very seriously injured, and his community pulled together and supported his ongoing journey back to wellness, described in his mumsie’s writing.

  • Lindie January 30, 2010, 10:38 am

Found you through the Bloggies. I live in the Kansas City, Missouri area and am a realtor. I don’t have a blog myself but love to read them. Am always interested in how other people live. One of my favorite blogs is the Pioneer Woman and she’s up for a few Bloggies too. I even bought her cookbook. Another new blog I am reading is one called Gifts of the Journey, about an American who found her new husband online and moved to his home in Cornwall.

Wow Kim, I would really like to say I found you through Veronica, but alas, I must admit that I was simply surfing the Bloggylands of Australia, and stumbled upon you totally by chance. I live in Portland, Oregon. Our last trip was to Australia, and I was immediately smitten.
My brother lived in a small town about an hour and a half from Sydney by train. I loved the trees, and the birds, and wished there were Joey’s here in Oregon. I come back because your pictures really show what a unique country you live in. Your friend in Oregon, where it is cold and rainy, while you are listening to the birds chatter at you, and you make even a creepy spider look like a marvelous creation. Colleen
