Sunday Selections #18

I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that  otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.

I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think  that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.

So I  have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.

Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.

Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Link back here to me.

Easy Peasy.

Love the bark. Then saw the elegance of the rocks. Stunning as always. Thanks.

  • Amanda May 8, 2011, 9:41 am

What kind of gum trees are those ? They are gorgeous.

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:47 pm

I just call them White gums, I will have a look through my horticultural texts and see if I can remember their Latin name.

  • sharon May 8, 2011, 9:58 am

Stunning Kim. The colours and textures are just begging to be put into/onto your ceramics.

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:48 pm

Yes, I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty.

  • Megan May 8, 2011, 10:16 am

I really love both photos this week Kim. The first almost looks like a painting.

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:49 pm

Thanks Megan, I was pleased with it when I saw it on the computer screen.

  • amandab May 8, 2011, 10:28 am

I love the colours of the first one and the textures of the second. Nature is wonderful 🙂

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:50 pm

Yes. I will take you up the mountain when you come to Tassie

  • Watershedd May 8, 2011, 12:25 pm

Your second photo reminds of the Giants’ Causeway. Ah, now there’s a nice memory!

  • Rusty Hoe May 8, 2011, 1:06 pm

That first one is gorgeous, the colours, the texture. Love the variety of bark we have on our gums.

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:54 pm

I can see some cups being decorated in a similar way

  • river May 8, 2011, 1:37 pm

I love the mountain, it’s so completely bare of any foliage.
Is it on your property? And who is that sitting way up on top there?

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:56 pm

It is mount Wellington, it towers over Hobart. I drove up there the other day to breathe in some of the energy and clear my head. I am pleased you spotted the climber. I don’t have a clue who he is, I like that he is there though 🙂

      • sleepydwarf May 8, 2011, 10:08 pm

It’s really intriguing that he’s there! Makes me want to look more & see if there’s anything else there that I haven’t seen at first.

  • Marie May 8, 2011, 3:05 pm

I love, love, love the beautiful gum tree, it’s like a wonderful painting. I so miss those colours and textures on trees. The rock formation is fascinating, both the colour and the formation’s shape. You wonder what force produced the needle like rocks. Is that an eagle up on the top?

    • frogpondsrock May 8, 2011, 6:58 pm

It is a climber, sitting up there on top of the world. Do you come home very much?

      • Marie May 8, 2011, 7:05 pm

It looked too big to be an eagle, but I wondered how a climber would get al the way up there. Sadly, I haven’t been home since I moved nearly 11 years ago. We are saving that trip until after the dog goes to doggy heaven as she’d fret too much if we went away.

  • Dorothy May 8, 2011, 8:59 pm

I too love the trees. I take photos of bark on gum trees wherever I can, and leaves. There is something so calming and meditative about them.

    • frogpondsrock May 9, 2011, 7:24 am

We are lucky here in Aus to have such a variety of Eucalypt. I think I will have to spend some time drawing the texture of the bark so that I can work out how to incorporate that into the decoration of my cups.

      • amandab May 9, 2011, 4:50 pm

I can’t wait to see those cups 🙂

  • Mena May 9, 2011, 2:05 am

I love love love the textures. Happy Mothers Day Kim.

  • Kelly May 9, 2011, 9:01 am

The picture of the bark on those trees is just magnificent! Thanks for sharing. Hope you had a lovely mothers day 🙂

  • Barbara May 9, 2011, 10:08 pm

Both are brilliant pictures but the top one especially is gorgeous. I would like to have it very very very big on a wall in the house.

  • Marylin May 10, 2011, 1:41 am

Ohhh love the rocky outcrop! *Gorgeous*!

  • Ali May 10, 2011, 6:15 pm

Those rocks are stunningly beautiful. Where IS that? It’s an amazing photo.
    xx

    • frogpondsrock May 10, 2011, 6:23 pm

It is on top of Mount Wellington, the mountain that is the backdrop to Hobart 🙂

  • All Consuming aka Michelle May 12, 2011, 6:13 pm

Hello there, I saw this on The Elephants Child’s blog and think it’s a great idea. You have some pretty beautiful photos going on yourself there, thanks for sharing. 🙂
