Yesterday I filmed the necropsy of some short taileed shearwater chicks.
Last night as I was reviewing the vision that I had taken, I renamed some of the best clips in order to make it a bit easier for myself when I started the serious editing.
This morning I imported all the vision onto the desktop and wiped the memory card.
The renamed clips did not import.
I do not know why they did not get imported.
I feel like crying.
Take two.
EDITED. 7.39am
After having a good moan on twitter, kicking the wall and seriously contemplating blowing something up, I followed the suggestions of my techmaster Veronica and I have found the lost vision.
Thank fucking goodness for that.
Take three.

It’s possible they’re still on the card, just not showing up through the import function? I recently had my card open, and the computer AND camera said it was empty, but there were around 40 photos on it. Double check?
I have triple checked sweety. I don’t feel like crying anymore but I am seriously grumpy with myself. You know I don’t ever delete anything *sigh*
Shit. Technology is not our best friend at times like this.
No. Stupid technology. Stupid Human.
I refer to it as ‘screw loose in the operator’. Sigh.
I nearly choked on my breakfast reading this comment. hehe
Oh no, I feel you pain, I accidentally deleted all the photos from my SD card. I am consoled because I had downloaded most of them. Still.
I am glad you found yours!! I don’t delete mine anymore or remove them from the card. Just in case….
I don’t normally delete anything. I have stuff in my email archives going back to 2006. It was a timely lesson.
oh my god what a relief!
I know. It was another valuable lesson to JUST SLOW DOWN WOMAN. Phew!
Next time rename the clips after you’ve imported them. That may have been the problem.
I have a friend who takes amazing photos, wedding stuff etc. and never ever wipes her memory cards until all photos are safely burned to disc.
I normally don’t delete anything River. That is why I was so upset with myself. Luckily it was all good in the end 🙂
Yahoo!! Hugs to Veronica. I myself am a moron when it comes to technology but I’m at least trying & starting to get “with it”. Thankfully my 10 year old grandson comes over to help his Nanny once in awhile.. LOL. Keep posting Kim, & I’ll keep reading. Mo
Seeing is believing….Veronica to the rescue. YaY!
Thank the Lord that you found them again.
Out of interest: why did you film that necropsy?
And I hate it when something like that happens! Technology is all fine, when it works. But when it doesn’t do what I expect it to do… aaarrrggghhh! So I feel your pain 😉 Glad your problem is solved.
I am having an exhibition next year with a couple of other artist to raise awareness about the plastic pollution and the deadly effect it has on our sea birds and I want a short film to be part of the exhibition. I want it to be fairly shocking. BAM! dead birds BAM open their stomachs Bam plastic. I am not sure it will work or not but I will give it a go.
Hi, I’m glad you’ve found your film. It’s so upsetting to lose something like that as you feel like you’ve lost that moment in time. Your ceramic gallery is impressive, I particularly like your white vessels.
Hi Carrie, I like the white ones as well. I use them instead of glassware here. They feel really nice in my hand 🙂
