I have included two photos of spiders in this weeks selections. They are halfway down the page so if you are phobic there is still time to click away now without seeing the spider shots.
You can thank me later.
I feel lost if I don’t have my camera with me, I have this nagging unsettled feeling that something isn’t quite right.
In the months after my mother died I lost interest in capturing any images at all and I put the camera way. It has been a slow journey back to the joyful delight that taking a kick arse image gives me.
As a ceramist I fire in oxidation and reduction. I throw, slip cast and hand build my work. I make chunky dark pots from a gravel filled clay body that will tear your hands to pieces if you are not careful and I also make delicate white slip cast cups. These contrasting styles of working make me happy
My photography is proving to be the same eclectic mix of images. I absolutely adore the sparse images I captured the other week with their blurry dreamlike quality. I also love the crisp focused photos that I take as well. I am quite interested to see where I am going with my image making and invite you to come on the journey with me.
So without further ado here are the images, closely followed by the weekly blurb. And just in case you had forgotten there are spiders ahead.
The Blurb.
I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.
I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.
So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.
Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.
Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Easy Peasy.

Love the spiders. Not a phobia of mine though snakes are a whole new ball game.
Also love the train. And those last two shots – are they foggy early morning or are they evening shots?
I don’t mind snakes either, though I find that primal fear a bit hard to shake. We had a dead one in the driveway, just a little whip snake and I made the spouse pick it up for me to photograph even though it was very dead. It took me a while to realise it wasn’t going to come back to life and go for my throat.
The last two were taken on a very foggy and drizzly afternoon about 4 pm.
Love the foggy pics, they remind me of hot casseroles, snuggled up under thick rugs and tucked away from the chilly world 🙂
The spiders are great – I wouldn’t have them on my Chrissy card list but I can admire from waaaaaaay afar 😉
I’m not fond of spiders but these are great shots. The 2nd pic gave me a chuckle too
It’s cold and rainy here, so the foggy pictures made me feel colder, have just turned the heater on.
I like the train image a lot.
Love the spiders! The first image looks metallic and makes me think of the replicators in Stargate SG1.
The spider pics are great!! I love the first one, blurred/sharp & the hard metallic look. I also like the last shot. Happy Sunday darl.
Thankyou gorgeous xox
Love the first two, but that is my Melbourne bias showing 🙂
I prefer the in focus spider. If I have to look at a beastie I prefer to see the whole beast, because who knows what it might be hiding otherwise! :s
Love the urgent sticker, I wonder if the person who stuck it there will ever know it became a Sunday Selection?
I doubt it but it would be nice wouldn’t it 🙂 I didn’t actually see the urgent sticker until I was reviewing the photos on the computer and when I saw it I thought, “Shot of the day!” I love unexpected surprises like that.
Finally got here! Loving those spiders…
Love the first pic and the DOF in the first spider pic is awesome.
Thanks for the heads up, I only panicked a little bit when I saw the pics instead of freaking out completely! That said, the panic was more concern for you in wondering just how close you had to get to the creepy critters for the shots. Once the heart rate slowed to something resembling normal, I actually went back and had a second look. I love the second spider and am thankful that it isn’t here!
I caught the spider and popped her in the fridge for a few hours to slow her down a bit as she was rather feisty and was determined to rip my throat out with her evil fangs. Or that is the mental picture she was sending me. Once I had taken some photos I popped her out into the sunshine to thaw out properly and off she scurried.
I came over from Mrs. Catch to see what’s happening…love the blog and I’m trying to decide about the once a week photo blog…great idea but I’m not the wonderful photographer you all are! So I may just have to enjoy your posts and come back to visit often! Have a good week!
Thanks for the compliment I would love you to join in, none of us are professional photographers we just like to post a few photos. Just put up any old photos that you find that make you happy or sad or whatever. It isn’t really about the quality of the snaps it is about story telling and sharing those forgotten photos and the stories that go with them. cheers Kim 🙂
Spiders are amazing !! First one is the no 1 choice but the 2nd one is crystal clear ! Love all the foggy pics – makes one think of comfort foods and sitting next a crackling fire!
We have had the fire going for days now, I am a bit over the fog I am yearning for clear blue skies and bare feet.
Those spider photos are awesome! I don’t think I’d love tomeet this guy IRL though? Hmmm, well, maybe if I hid behind my camera I think I’d want to photograph him/her too!
