Sunday Selections is back for this week. Thanks to Veronica for hosting the meme for me last week.
I am still distracted by the Occupy Wall Street protest that has been going on for over a fortnight now. It is very interesting that when people take to the streets in Egypt it is called fighting for freedom or justice or democracy, But when people take to the streets in America to protest against corporate control it is met with a deadly silence. As I write this protestors are being arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge with 75 confirmed arrests.
You can watch the livestream here
Or you can read these stories of the 99% here
Or you can join in with my Sunday Selections here, because when everything turns to shit you can always be distracted by a nice photo.
The Blurb
I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.
I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.
So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.
Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.
Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Easy Peasy.

Wow, that first one is certainly dramatic! The colour is amazing.
Thanks Amanda, It was a glorious sunrise a couple of months ago.
Love, love, love the reflections on the water. And amandab is right – the first is truly spectacular. Thank you.
It was my pleasure EC 🙂
The colour in the first one is amazing.
I am stunned by the media silence on the Occupy Wall St protests. I’ve been following the twitter streams and just can’t believe how the mainstream media can control so much of our perceptions.
It was a beautiful sunrise Marita.
If you follow some of the links on twitter Marita, the stories are pretty shocking. Well, not shocking to me because I am an old cynic. But they are worth reading. The stories on the tumblr, I am the 99% are pretty heartbreaking as well.
Oh. I am ignorant. I too have had no idea of the Occupy Wall St protests. Thank you for telling us more. Over to web news & twitter.
My Sunday Selections are a bit of “cheering up” it’s a little girl (who probably WILL cut her hair at 5 too, V!) finding her “twin” and a photo from a year ago in Qld…where I’d rather be than dull and cold Sydney. Rained all night.
Your photos had me gasping with the contrasts…W O N D E R F U L images.
Thanks Kim!
I just added my name twice as I hadn’t entered my blog address properly. 🙂
No worries Denyse 🙂
Such a contrast this week Kim!
A fiery sunset, (which I now read is a sunrise),
and frosty foggy water with great reflections.
Thanks River, I am glad you enjoyed the contrast.
I’m always looking for distractions. I see enough corp crap on a daily basis that I deliberately don’t watch the news, am rarely on twitter now, and only look for creative things that make me smile…. like your photos. I too love the contrast between them. 🙂
On the day that Troy Davis was executed, just under half of my twitter stream was tweeting about him, the other half was full of banality. I tweeted, “that such is my online life.” I have a love hate relationship with twitter it always amazes me that some people can tweet about consistently about nothing at all.
I am pleased that I made you smile. 🙂
Wow! I’d love a large print of the Reflections, it is absolutely amazing.
Re Occupy Wall St – sadly very little that emanates from the Corporate World in the USA (or here for that matter) amazes me these days. However, I hope more and more Americans see through the stream of crap their mass media feeds them and stands up to say ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Only then will things change. In the meantime while I fret over the fact that grandchildren are not a factor in my life, more frequently I’m glad as the world would seem to have a miserable future unless there are some radical changes ;-(
The red sky photo is stunning!
Whoops, accidentally posted the wrong blog address, linked to a blog instead, apologies!
