Hospitals, Weddings,Life and the Universe and well everything…

Hello internet.

I spent most of yesterday and part of today in the emergency department of our local hospital with my daughter Veronica and her small son Isaac.

Isaac has a viral infection and we were that worried about him that at 5.00pm we braved a trip into the hospital.

Isaac was finally admitted to the Pediatric ward at 2.30 am.

I then drove slowly home at 3 am this morning being very careful to avoid imaginary large black dogs and kangaroos on theΒ  highway as my tiredness produced some interestingΒ  hallucinations.

This photo taken with my phone camera at about midnight last night sums up all our exhaustion.

This photo says more than I ever could.

I am tired internet, I am slightly stressed and I have a fever and an infection as well.

We have a wedding in five days time.

But.

The plates are in the kiln.

The cake is made.

The sheep is being delivered tomorrow and will be killed tomorrow night.

A spit roast has been organised and I have rustled up some chairs and tables.

We will be testing the livestream tomorrow. I will tweet at you tomorrow so that you can tell us if it works.

I am sure it will all come together and even if we all just stand around in a paddock eating lamb and gravy rolls it will still be a wonderful day.

Because Isaac is now home again and he has eaten a bowl full of sliced peaches.

A bowl of sliced peaches? BRILLANT!

  • Zelda November 21, 2011, 2:58 pm

and my gawd V looks exhausted……we may need to prop her up with marionette sticks on Saturday.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 3:48 pm

She is incredibly exhausted Zelda. Von has a chest infection as well as the normal exhaustion from her EDS.
But she will be a beautiful bride, it will be a lovely day.

And we can all fall in a heap next week.

      • Zelda (Tassie_Gal) November 21, 2011, 4:26 pm

As long as you all unheap yourself to yell at me as I walk down the street on the 14th of December!

        • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:45 pm

Yell at you? What archaic custom is this Miss Z? and I have marked down the 14th as Z Day πŸ™‚

      • Zelda (Tassie_Gal) November 21, 2011, 5:44 pm

And I wish there was stuff I could do to help. Its really difficult being up here, and seeing friends who you want to help but cant due to the tyrrany of distance.

  • amandab November 21, 2011, 2:59 pm

Standing around in a paddock eating lamb and gravy rolls sounds like a wonderful day to me (especially since i remember a tweet saying it was going to be a nice day on Saturday). πŸ™‚

I will watch your tweets and look for photos of your plates to see how they go. Fingers crossed for you that the new glaze works.

Glad Isaac is eating, hope he continues to improve and that you are all feeling well by Saturday xx

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 3:50 pm

Thank you Amanda. I am also making venison skewers and apparently there is a shelf on the spit for roast potatoes. Throw in a couple of large bowls of greenery, a greek salad and it will be fine.

      • amandab November 21, 2011, 6:54 pm

        Not Bambi!!!

My parents served us venison sausages as kids and then taunted us regarding Bambi the whole time. Needless to say, they didn’t actually get eaten.

I like venison, but I still can’t eat the sausages.

  • Tenille @ My Family Table November 21, 2011, 3:02 pm

Oh that’s good news, I’m glad that Isaac is on the mend. I hope you’re all well and rested for the wedding. It’s the sentiment and love that makes a wedding wonderful, so Veronica’s wedding will be amazing.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 3:52 pm

Thank you for reminding me of that Tenille, I tend to get caught up in the minutae of it all with thoughts like this popping into my head, “Gravy OMG we are going to need lots of gravy!!!” lol.

  • jan November 21, 2011, 3:34 pm

Oh I do feel for you. I hope that you are all really fit and well by the wedding day. I’m sure that it will be glorious as there is nothing to beat seeing your daughter (and family) beaming with happiness. It’s seriously tears in the eyes time!
On my daughter’s wedding stress – well she tried to alter the wedding dress that she bought online and now it’s ruined – as are the bridesmaids dresses!
It’s less than four weeks to THE DAY but she has already been out and selected the bridesmaid dresses, which they love (thank heavens) and next weekend it’s wedding dress shopping with her sister.
I know that all will be okay on the day, and I know that I’m not there in SA to support her more but I still worry…..
    Part of being a mother.
Back to you, good luck with everything.
    Jan

  • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 3:53 pm

Thank Jan. I really appreciate this comment of yours as it is a special thing to see your daughter get married. πŸ™‚

  • Jayne November 21, 2011, 4:04 pm

(((hugs))) to you all, I hope you’re all able to get better and catch up on your rest before the big day xxx.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:46 pm

The antibiotics are starting to kick in now Jayne, So I reckon I will be fine. I will just be increasingly frantic on twitter πŸ™‚

  • sharon November 21, 2011, 4:04 pm

Ain’t life and viruses just got the perfect timing!!! Fingers firmly crossed for healthy (ish?) people, fabulous weather and a glorious Wedding. Now breathe . . . one . . . two . . . three . . .

  • Pixie November 21, 2011, 4:20 pm

Hoping it all goes to plan. Von will be a beautiful bride. She will.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:48 pm

Oh there is no doubt about that Pixie πŸ™‚ It is just the minutae that is doing my head in. I keep on having moments where I suddenly think GRAVY We NEEED GRAVY and then I hyperventilate for a few seconds and then go back to what I was doing.

  • Elephant's Child November 21, 2011, 5:12 pm

What an awful day, with a lovely ending and beautiful heart-warming photos. Tears in my eyes. It will be a truly wonderful day, with a radiant bride and the mother of the bride bursting with pride.

On a different note. No-one else has stuck up their hand so if you send me DETAILED (yes one more task) instructions about how to put up your linky thing I will host Sunday Selections until you can reclaim it the following week.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:49 pm

I will send you detailed instructions πŸ™‚ You will be fine.

  • Donna @ NappyDaze November 21, 2011, 5:13 pm

Those pictures say it all… pure exhaustion… Hope all holds out til the big day -it will be beautiful no matter what!

  • Elisabeth November 21, 2011, 5:14 pm

What a roll you are on and this post captures the roller coaster spin of it. Good to hear that little Isaac is well enough to eat his peaces.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:56 pm

My daughter was very exhausted (still is) but holding Isaac’s hand as he slept was lovely for me.

  • Watershedd November 21, 2011, 5:54 pm

I do hope you all get plenty of rest before the big day, so that you can all celebrate, lamb, and gravy rolls and all (which by the way, sound just perfect to me). I so wish I could be there to help and join in the joy, but I have my own issues to address and my own family to attend to as well. Love to you all. X

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 6:59 pm

You made us the cake. And you will be there with us as we livestream. I think you can sign in to the Livestream so that you can leave “real time” messages. I am taking the laptop out tomorrow and we are going to practice the livestreaming.

  • Marylin November 21, 2011, 6:09 pm

So glad to hear the wee man is home and eating a little! *hugs*

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 7:01 pm

Oh yes Marylin, he looked so fragile last night. We are so lucky that we don’t have the terrible childhood illnesses anymore. As this Virus was quite nasty enough for me.

  • river November 21, 2011, 6:16 pm

Those photos speak volumes, Kim. I really hope everyone is well on the big day.
Veronica is sure to look even more beautiful than she already does.
I’m looking forward to seeing photos.
Now you have me dreaming of roast potatoes…I haven’t had those in months!
I’m glad to hear Isaac is eating again.

    • frogpondsrock November 21, 2011, 7:02 pm

Roast potatoes are just the bees knees River. πŸ™‚

  • Marita November 21, 2011, 8:01 pm

I’m so excited about the peaches. Amazing πŸ™‚

  • Barbara November 21, 2011, 8:32 pm

Goodness, they look exhausted. I really hope everyone’s better by the weekend and no new lurgies appear.

I’m thinking of you all (although remarkably rubbish at comments of late, I am still reading and caring) and know that you will all make Saturday a fabulous day.

  • BendyGirl November 21, 2011, 9:05 pm

Phew, I’m so glad to hear Isaac is perking up a bit now, what a horrid time for you all. But wedding, squee! Which reminds me I need to email you about that πŸ˜‰

  • carolina November 22, 2011, 12:15 am

Oh your life is so full of goings on right now, I can imagine you’re exhausted. Glad to hear the cute Isaac is home again and feeling better. Hope you will all feel better soon, in time for a lovely wedding. (Poor sheep, can’t you change your mind and make a lovely flowery garland around her neck and make her a bridesmaid and just eat bread and salads? No? Really?)

  • lynda howells November 22, 2011, 7:17 am

I am SO praying for you everything turns out wellxxxxxxxlynda

  • Achelois November 22, 2011, 10:46 am

Wrote on Veronica’s about Isaac, glad to see he is a little better.
A miracle will happen by Saturday, everyone will be well, no infections, shiny happy people and lots and lots gravy.
Feel better soon – the mother of the bride.
(don’t understand time zones having discalulia can’t even spell it now) so I need to know what time it will be here in the UK for the streaming thingy whatsit, that I don’t really understand, but only if you have time. Concentrate on Veronica and you and the wedding and let the Internet go hang for once if needs be. We will happily watch on youtube. When I say happily I mean, we are all far to polite to complain.
Be well, have fun, laugh loudly into the night, dance and remember for ever the most special day ever.

    • frogpondsrock November 22, 2011, 12:29 pm

I will find out the exact time for you lovely.

  • Mary November 22, 2011, 3:34 pm

Really looking forward to the wedding on Saturday. It will be a dream I know X

    • frogpondsrock November 23, 2011, 6:16 am

Yes it was quite frightening Mary. Children get very sick very quickly. But Isaac is much better now. I am looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, the weather is supposed to be nice πŸ™‚

  • Maria November 24, 2011, 8:31 am

Hope you’ll get better! Best to Isaac and the family!

    • frogpondsrock November 24, 2011, 9:20 am
