Hi everyone, last night I went along to my very first roller derby match and along with some other brave souls I had all my hair chopped off to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
So instead of hunting through my zillions of folders of forgotten photos I will share with you photos of The Worlds Greatest Shave.
My daughter Veronica took all these photos for me and I have not edited them at all.
For any newcomers here that would like to join in with my Sunday Selections meme you are more than welcome and here are the rules .
The Blurb
I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldnβt be seen by anyone other than me.
I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.
So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.
Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.
Publish your photos on your blog using the βSunday Selectionsβ title.

The Photos
I dyed my hair one last time especially for the shave.
The Minister for Tourism Scott Bacon starts to chop off my hair and I am hamming it up for the crowd.
I am now holding my hair in my hands. I will use my hair for paintbrushes.
The serious clipping begins.
The public part of the shave has finished.and here I am with short hair, Tadaa!
After the public shaving had finished, the lovely Bridget from the Leukaemia foundation took one of the other shavees, Garland and myself off to the staff room and she finished shaving our hair. So my hair is even shorter now than this last photo but you get the general idea.
There is still plenty of time to donate to this very worthy cause if you feel so inclined. All you have to do is Click this link to my page on the Leukaemia Foundation’s website.
oh ps. Thanks for all the hats I didn’t realise just how cold my head would be.

Love it! Looks great π Think you must now be the same length as me.
Miss 5 loves it too π
My hair is about one and a half centimetres long Amanda.
Looks bloody awesome….Thank you for being so brave and raising much needed funds for cancer research my ENTHUSIASTIC friend xxx
Lol and you know exactly how ENTHUSIASTIC I can be Meegs hehehe
Bravo Kim! The length (or rather lack of) in the last photo really suits you. In a few weeks, once the stubble has recovered from the shock and grown, all will be good. The receptionist at my BC surgeon’s office is of my generation, ie substantially older than you, and her hair is that length and every time I see her it is a different combination of colours. Looks great. If you keep the short length you too will be able to dye your hair a rainbow of colours without all the hassle that long hair brings.
PS Stay warm π
I am wearing your hat with the ladybird buttons at the moment Sharon. I was quite surprised at how cold my head is and how quickly I can get a chill. I forsee lots of hats in my future π
π xox
Fabulous! You look great π
Thanks Glow, I feel great actually. A bit chilly but great.
Well done you!!
Thank you π and your purple beanie will be worn happily as it looks lovely on me with my short hair.
And look how incredible the short hair makes your eyes look!!
Thanks April π it has been 30 years since my hair was this short. I like it. I might keep it I think.
Smoking! Really, really like you and your short hair. You can wear it any length, lucky thing.
Thanks Jebaru, it has been a long long time since my hair has been this short but I really like it
Go Kim, as the others said you are rocking that short hair. Looks like it was a fun night, and you raised a tonne of money for a great organisation to boot π
We raised over three thousand dollars, I am thrilled to bits with my total.
Wooo…You rock! The short hair looks awesome on you too π
Thanks Leigh π
GO YOU!!! You look absolutely gorgeous π I knew you’d rock it. Wow! So proud of you, Kimmy xoxoxox
*blushes* thanks Fe, my head feels so light, it is lovely.
So brave and it looks great! π
Thanks Sam π
What a wonderful thing you have done… and such a brave soul! Hugs!
Thank you Cindi, I will hug you back π
Good for you. I could never do it, even if it was for a good cause.
I was very nervous in the lead up to the Shave Megan. All this week I have been trying really hard not to think about it, but last night I was fine. ( I do like a crowd )
Gorgeous. Congratulations. Hope I am able to give you some $$ next time!
Thanks Amanda π xx
It looks great!!! So awesome to do this for a good cause! The kind of person you are always! π
Thanks Mrs C π
You look fantastic, Kim. Short hair suits you π
And well done for reaching your fundraising goal…
Thanks Dorothy π
WOO!!!!! I’ve been hanging out for pictures since last night! Well done!!!!!! x What a great achievement/
Thanks Karen, I didn’t have any internet reception in the DEC (Derwent Entertainment Centre) I would have 3G for about ten seconds and then I would lose it otherwise I would have posted nervous tweets and then twitpics of the shave π
Kim, you look so pretty with the short hair!
That really suits you.
I’m glad you were sent lots of hats and beanies.
I bet you have scarves as well to wrap around your neck, now the hair is gone.
Thanks River π and I have a couple of nice warm scarves.
Really nice cut, Kim. Well done on the fundraising effort. X
Thanks lovely π
Awesome! You look great! π
*grins*
Life to full on to play in the blogosphere this week, but I had to come and see your seriously short hair. You look AMAZING. Cheekbones, character. And new paint brushes to boot. Well done.
Thanks Lovely, I hope everything is well with you?
You look AMAZING! Well done, what a fantastic and brave thing to do. You are truly wonderful x
lol Thank you Bianca. *grins*
Laughed when I saw the plait. We had some serious fun with our ladies plaits on the day. My personal favourite was the Mennonite beard arrangement (aka under and around the jaw). Great new look Kim. Your photos are priceless.
Thanks Mrs Catch, I know this has special significance for you and I hope that I helped you in a small way π
Well done, lady! God you really bloody suit it short, too!! x
Thanks my lovely, I think I will probably keep it short now π
YOU ARE SO BRAVE! On public display like that. You look awesome with short hair!
You will not believe how fast it will go before you say “gosh my hair has gotten long, need a cut”
Congratulations on the fundraise.
Thank you Signe, the actual shave was a lot of fun. I love an audience and thoroughly enjoyed myself hamming it up for the crowd.
You did it…and your new cut looks fabulous! You will be finding all kinds of benefits, like quicker showers and comb-outs, a cooler head when you want one (and pretty hats when you don’t). Congratulations and thanks!
Thanks Janet, My head feels so light and only took about 3 seconds to dry.
Kim, I admire your courage. Well done. And I have to say that I do prefer the short haired look on you π
I didn’t feel especially courageous Carolina, once I had signed up to do the shave I was committed and then it sort of snowballed π I think I will probably keep the short hair now and I am looking forward to dyeing it a series of really fun colours.
Bravo! this must have been so scary and difficult! It’s a worthy and wonderful thing to make such a personal sacrifice for a cause you believe in. Most of us say–of course we would–but you ACTUALLY did it!
You are AMAZING–and don’t you let anyone tell you different!
I couldn’t actually think about “TheShave” last week as I would start to hyperventilate a bit π but then I had to have a colonoscopy done on the Wednesday beforehand and the meds they gave me made me so sick that I forgot all about the shave and stayed in bed with a book for three days.
I had some fluttery nerves on the Saturday but once I was in the stadium I was fine and I enjoyed myself ( I love an audience)
You deserve an audience, Kim. What a sacrifice that plait is.
As everyone else seems to agree – you look beautiful with your new do.
Keep on rocking π
Thank you Mary π
You look even more gorgeous Kim
Thanks Trish *grins*
You look just as lovely with short hair, very brave thing to do for a very good cause.
It is a great cause Linda and thanks for your donation my lovely xx
Well done Kim! You look fabulous with short hair – it really suits you. I admire you for your dedication to such a great cause.
Take care,
Laney x
I am loving it Laney, I have been looking at fudge now that is is so short. I feel like an electric blue might be in order.
My granddaughter had all her hair cut off to be donated 2 years ago and is growing it out again to do it again. Her hair is a lovely shade that will make someone happy! You look beautiful either way. Your smile especially!
Thank you Lindie
your hair’s ROCK!! it really fits you. you look hot and lovely too π
you have a very good heart to do that for a good cause i salute you!
Wow, well done you! What a champ – and what’s more, the cropped do suits you!
Thanks Donna π and thanks for your support xox
Well done! You must be cold… It’s easy to forget how well hair keeps us warm :p
I was really cold for the first couple of days Philly but I am used to it now and I have lots of hats. (including yours)
You are a brave soul! And I love it, now we can see your lovely face!
See, what was I saying? You rock. And I’m glad you’re doing it with a beanie noo, in your cold studio π
