I opened an email today from my daughter, the subject line was, “things that make me think of you”.
There weren’t any words in the email, only a photo.
A photo of a dead Praying Mantis.
A dead Praying Mantis whose belly was full of baby spiders.
My children send me photos of dead things.
I am winning at parenting.

Awesome. LOVING what you’ve tagged it under.
Wow! I love it. Wow.
Great capture, V.
Of course you are winning at parenting. Did you have any doubt? We certainly don’t. Your love and care and support for them is a HUGE part of who you are.
Why exactly does this image remind Victoria of you? From a daughter’s point of view though, this is similar to the things I do to my own mother as a way of (lovingly) teasing her. It’s like the silly games we used to play when I was little and the whole point was to get Mum to pull a funny face or grimace! Then I was satisfied she understood and reciprocated how much I loved her (and still do of course).
One of those games was turning over my empty boiled egg shell in the egg cup and pretending I hadn’t eaten it after all. I couldn’t move on with my day until I’d received the requisite groan and eye-roll!
That’s winning parenting 🙂
Ahhh! The pic totally creeped me out! But it is also really a good picture. I mean, interesting and just cool looking. But I’m still creeped out!
