Good Morning Internet, it is a grey and misty morning here in frogpondsrock land but it isn’t cold so that is a win.
I tried to stalk some black cockatoos that were feeding in the trees yesterday but The Spouse let the dog out at the crucial moment so all I captured was some blurry leaves and the leaves weren’t blurry in a good way either.
I am starting to find a photographic balance in the same way that I have found ceramic balance. I love the arty photos that just suggest the image as much as I love the crisp scientific photos with the subject clearly defined bang in the middle of the shot.
It is a work in progress this being an artist caper.
It is all good.
I am in the process of setting up a shop attached to the blog where I can sell my ceramics directly to you and I was wondering if you would be interested in some of my images as well?
Anyway here are my photos for this week.
Starting with some of our local yellow tailed black cockatoos. I have published these photos before but in light of yesterdays unsuccessful mission I thought I would republish them again.
I have also published this photo numerous times on the blog but it is one of my favourite photos. I don’t have any chickens anymore and so the eagles aren’t hanging around looking for an easy meal. I miss the chickens and I miss the eagles.
I was down at the River with “The Spouse” again the other day. It has been a long winter for a man that likes to be doing. We both knew that there was too much fresh water in the river for the fish to be on the bite, but it was a beautiful day. Jeff wet a line and I filmed him and then took blurry photos of seagulls. It was nice.
If you would like to join in with my Sunday Selections meme I would love to have you on board.
The Blurb.
I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.
I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.
So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.
Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.
Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Easy Peasy.

Ooooh. We very, very occasionally get Black Cockatoos. And I am always honoured and delighted to see them. Last year (naturally when I didn’t have my camera) we drove past a Wedgetailed Eagle perched on a road kill kanga. Wow – they are so big, and so impressive. I love this weeks photos – all of them. Mega thanks.
it was my pleasure 🙂 Wedgetails are my favourite birds, I love all raptors but the Eagles just take my breath away
I think that is the permanent state of the artist, isn’t it? A work in progress?
And I do think your images would be a worthy addition to a shop. Yay for a shop! 🙂
Love the contrast of the dark black feathers against the bright of the wood.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Amanda 🙂
Always love your bird pictures Kim. I have several shots of my Western Spinebill but cannot get close enough to the other honeyeaters, they are definitely eat-and-run characters. My latest obsession is trying to get a photo of our Splendid Fairy Wrens who are in the process of developing their glorious ‘courting’ plumage. No success so far though ;-(
The little birds are incredibly hard to photograph Sharon. I spend ages being very very sneaky. It is much easier now that I have a good zoom lens. But I do have zillions of photos of bare sky heh
I didn’t know yellow tailed black cockatoos had yellow cheek patches as well.
I really love the eagle just landing with his wings spread like that.
🙂 Thanks River
These are fantastic bird images, especially the cockatoo on a log. We don’t see black cockatoo’s around here, only the sulphur-crested cockatoo. Great shot of The Spouse too.
I liked that one of the spouse as well. He is my muse. I photograph him a lot. He said he will sit for me and let me sculpt him.
First timer for Sunday Selections.
Still trying to get my photo size right for my blog may need to change layout. ** whinge** 🙂
Love the pics of the eagles, my favourite bird.
Yay! Welcome Frances 🙂
Beautiful Kim, the colours of the black cocky against the timber … your entire post is wonderful as always!
Hope you have a stress free week. xo.
Thanks Cherie, I have had enough stress in the last couple of weeks to last me for a while. The weather is warming up and the daffodils are out it was a lovely day today. Nice weather is always a tonic.
The only way I get to see a Cockatoo is to go to the zoo. To see them locked up in a cage just is not the same thing!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that eagle shot, awesome!
They are really common here Jientje, They fly down in flocks of 8-10 birds and eat the grubs that burrow into the Eucalyptus trees. Their beaks are really strong and they tear great strips of bark off the trees looking for the grubs. I will take some photos of a dying tree that they have shredded and post it for you. I will try and film them next time they really make a racket as well.
Wow, the eagle shots! And I do like the last photo, the scribble on the water – which made me think of “Smoke on the water” and now I can’t get the song out of my head.
Love the images of the birds….
